About

Hello! My name is Lisa, I’m a 27-year-old girl living in Oxfordshire and working in London. Each day I commute to the centre of the city to my job at an independent book publisher, helping to sell their eBooks on Amazon, Google and iBooks, as well as lots of other places.

I have been blogging in various places on the internet for over 10 years, and I most recently created FOR BRIGHTER DAYS in 2016. I want FOR BRIGHTER DAYS to be my corner of the internet where I can share the things are important to me and things that make happy.

My medical story and what you can expect from FOR BRIGHTER DAYS

Throughout my life I have had a lot of medical complications, and I manage a life-long chronic illness known as Antiphospholipid Syndrome. Most days I live a normal life, but occasionally my symptoms flare up in serious ways.

My life was changed completely in 2014, when I became seriously ill and spent 3 days in a medically induced coma. When I woke, I had lost full vision in both my eyes and had to adapt my way of life to cope with sudden blindness. My condition was caused by a clot in my brain that damaged my optic nerve, but I was able to recover some of my vision over the span of two years and keep working and reading.

I want to use FOR BRIGHTER DAYS to talk openly and honestly about my conditions, how they affect my life and what I’ve learned from them. I won’t go into gory details, and I want to keep this place an upbeat environment. I don’t define myself by my medical conditions, so really I’ll be talking about all aspects of my life – mixing lifestyle posts and travel stories with diary style thoughts, rants and advice. My main passion is reading so there’ll also be book reviews and discussions when I find something exciting I want to talk about. This blog is for the brighter days in my life, to document them when they happen and for me to have something to focus on when things get hard. I’d love for you to join me.
